Bogdan-Andrei Lovin

I see this competition as a great platform to learn from other young talents from Europe, to receive feedback from prestigious juries and to test my limits. It is a chance to represent my region and show that local tradition, combined with modern techniques, has a place of honour in the European gastronomic scene.

Born and raised in the heart of Banat, Romania, Bogdan discovered his love for cooking at the “Valeriu Braniște” Technological High School in Lugoj, where he realized that cooking is more than a job—it is a vocation. Today, he is studying at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Timișoara, gaining a deeper understanding of the journey from farm to fork and the importance of knowing the origin of ingredients.

A Deep Connection to Tradition and Local Ingredients

Bogdan draws inspiration from the Banat region, seasonal ingredients, and traditional recipes. He enjoys exploring the culinary heritage of his home, reinterpreting classic dishes in a modern, sustainable way. While at the beginning of his career, he has already gained valuable experience through national competitions and by participating with the regional Kolping team in Stuttgart, Germany, where he learned to combine creativity, discipline, and precision under pressure.

Honoring Banat’s Culinary Roots

At the European Young Chef Award, Bogdan-Andrei Lovin will present Baked Polenta with Chicken Roll, an innovative take on the traditional Polenta with Chicken and Garlic, his homage to Banat cuisine. This contemporary interpretation celebrates the flavors of locally sourced cornmeal and free-range chicken, while drawing inspiration from the region’s rich culinary heritage. Steeped in tradition yet reimagined for today, the dish reflects Bogdan’s commitment to sustainability, local ingredients, and the cultural identity of Banat, offering a fresh perspective on a beloved classic.
