Pija Frešer

Cooking is not only about food, but about creating moments that make people feel at home — where flavors bring back memories and dishes tell a story.

At just 21 years old, Pija Frešer is a rising culinary talent from the village of Hoče, nestled in the valley beneath Slovenia’s Pohorje mountains. She is currently studying at the Vocational College for Hospitality and Tourism Maribor while gaining hands-on experience at The Woods of Sinic, her family’s restaurant located 1,050 meters above sea level.

Having trained at acclaimed establishments such as Restaurant Milka, Pija has developed a refined appreciation for sustainability, foraging, fermentation, and fine dining. Her cooking philosophy is rooted in emotion and authenticity — creating dishes that evoke nostalgia, warmth, and human connection.

Guided by the principles of sustainability and respect for nature, Pija’s culinary style blends modern techniques with local traditions. She believes in the power of food to connect people and spark conversation, aspiring to one day open her own restaurant where guests can share not only meals but meaningful experiences.
