Mariona Rodà, Catalonia’s finalist to the EYCA 2019

Meet Mariona Rodà, European Young Chef Award 2019 finalist from Catalonia, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2016.

19 years old, Mariona Rodà is the young talent who will represent Catalonia, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2016 at the European Young Chef Award 2019, to be held in Rhodes (South Aegean, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2019) on 22-24 October.

Soon after finishing high school and inspired by her passion for bakery that started when she was a child, Mariona decided to study cooking at IES Bisbe Sevilla to learn everything possible about this profession. A sport and book lover, during her study years she has worked on a food truck and in an American bakery in Catalonia.

Winner of the Best Presentation prize at the 33rd Catalan Young Chef Award, Mariona loves to cook with her grandmother’s and family’s recipes that have been passed down through generations.

About the European Young Chef Award

The European Young Chef Award 2019 is a competition organised and promoted by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT) in collaboration with South Aegean, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2019.

The European Young Chef Award gathers finalists of regional contests from around Europe to present and exchange knowledge about traditional dishes and local food products from their regions and then compete proposing their innovative reinterpretation of traditional recipes, judged by star chefs and international experts.
